windows update hanging at "preparing to download"

Microlab Manager

I am trying to install updates from the Windows Update
site. I get as far as accepting the license, then the
dialog box comes up. I get the progress message "preparing
to download" but then it stops. What can I do about this?

I'm having the same problem. There were three files in
this batch of security updates. I downloaded two of them,
one at a time. The file, Windows2000-KB826232-x86-ENU.exe
locks up the computer. So far I haven't found a
solution. Maybe somebody at MS will help without us
having to spend a $ to solve one of their bugs.
