My system consists of the following:

Dimension 8200 Series, Pentium 4 Processor at 2.0 Ghz
200 Gigabyte Hard Drive
250 Megabyte Iomega Zip Internal Drive
24x/10x/40x CD-RW Drive
48x CD-ROM Drive
4x Sony DRX510UL DVD-RW Drive(USB 2.0)
256 Megabyte PC800 RDRAM
64 Megabyte GeForce4 MX Graphics Card with TV-Out
SB Live! 1024 Digital Sound Card

When I use Windows Update to scha my system for updates, I
get the following error message:

An error occurred while scanning for driver updates. We are
not able to display any updated drivers for your system.

This is a recent occurrence for me. I suspect that it is
due to a recent update of the "Windows Update" software
itself. My copy of "Windows Update" now sports an icon in
the upper right-hand corner of the "window" that depicts
"1 2 3" ways to protect my system. Prior to the upgrade
that started showing this "advertisement", I did not have
the "Driver Update" scanning error prior to that upgrade.

I would appreciate any help that I can get to alleviate
this problem. Thanks.

I can see the 123 icon you mention, I dont have this problem.
Some people have posted saying that the "Driver Updates" in the left hand
windows is greyed out.
A guy from microsoft asked for a screen shot of this and it was posted in
the microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup.
