Hi Michae
You might also try resetting the IE settings to default. Also, check out the information here and see if it will help:
Fix Windows Update error "Failure No. 0x80244018

Perhaps the folks in the Windows update group will have more information for you.
Hope this helps.

Hi Jan,
Thanks for the fast reply. Appologies - we are using IE 6 SP1 on Windows 2000 Server SP-4 (with Rollup 1 Update).
I've tried what you suggested and it's still the same. We need to use a proxy so I've set all the settings the same as all the other clients. I've even added the windowsupdate site to the Trusted zones.
Any other ideas? I'll add this to the microsoft.public.windowsupdate NG as well.
Thanks,
Michael
Hi Michael
You do not tell us the version of Windows you are using, so I can only make a guess.
Unless you have to use a Proxy server, then go to..
Tools>Internet Options>Connection>LAN settings
Make sure the Use a proxy server box is UNchecked,
Check the box next to "Automatically detect settings".
OK out, close IE, then reopen and try your update again.
You might also post to the Windows Update support group:
microsoft.public.windowsupdate
Hope this helps.

Receiving the above error for any Windows Updates. I can get into the Windows Update site fine and can select from the list of available updates but when I click on install, it fails almost immediately on download.
