Windows Update Drivers

I have just updated my video (NVidia) and sound (Creative Soundblaster) drivers with the latest ones from the vendor websites. Now, when I run Windows Update it reports two updated drivers available, one for my sound card and one for my video card. The sound card one is dated 2002 and looks suspect as being newer than the one I have, but the video one is Oct 2003 and could well be newer

I am confused, normally Windows Update drivers are behind the vendor website drivers so why is Windows Update telling me its got newer drivers when I have just updated to the vendors latest. Before I install the Windows Update drivers I would like to check file versions - how do I find out what the file versions are that Windows Update will install

I have been updating my drivers because my Medal of Honor game has decided to start locking up Windows with a blank screen and a buzzing noise from the speakers (after running fine for nearly a year - agggghhhh!!!!!!). Unfortunately no luck with this problem yet despite updating the drivers. Maybe the Windows Update versions will help........

Thanks for any help.

I ran into the same problem.

What I did was open explorer, set the folders option to
details, right clicked on Name. In the right hand pane,
clicked on more and then added File version and Product
name from that list. Clicked OK. Tools, Folder options,
View and clicked Apply to all folders.

Now, when I get that message, I open explorer and can
automatically check the file versions to see if I want to
download.

If there is a better way, I'm open to more input.

My recent experience with windows updated drives tell me not to trust those
drivers at all.... use the vendors latest ones.
