Hi
Can someone please help here. I had been attacked by the KILLAV virus, and
all is now clened up with the exception I am unable to run Windows Update.
I get the message ' Windows Update was diabled by your system administrator'.
Error 0X8DDD0003.
When I go to resolutions for this error as the administrator the instruction
reads: Start/Run/type gpedit.msc/click ok.
Message shows that gpedit.msc not found.
I am running XP Home editition.

Login as an administrator.

Go to Start/RUN and type in 'services.msc' without quotes.
Double click on Automatic Updates. Is it disabled?

If so, click on where it says 'Disabled' and click on Manual.

Hi John
It was on Automatic, I changed it to Manual but it still didn't work. I have
corrected it back to Automatic.

GPEDIT.msc is part of Windows XP PROFESSIONAL edition.
It is not available in Home Edition.

Thanks John
Any suggestions on how to get Windows Udate to function again? The Windows
site is only giving GPEDIT.msc as the only way to fix it.

I think I forgot to write that.

Click on Start/RUN and type in "services.msc" without quotes.
Click OK, and when you see a list of services, double-click on Automatic Updates.

Is that service disabled? If so click on where it says 'Disabled' and click on Enabled.
