I have Updates set to automatically download. When I get the notice that
updates are ready to be installed... is it possible that these may NOT come
from Microsoft?
Earl

No, since Windows Updates are on a secure server.

Here's what you can do to enhance the security on your PC

If you have set them to automatic then you will recieve a yellow shield icon
in your tray when updates are ready to be installed, these updates will be
coming from Microsoft.

Updates either come as I described above when you have them set to automatic
or you can get them yorself from the following link.

Link : http://update.microsoft.com

REMEMBER : Microsoft NEVER send updates via email, if you recieve an email
offering updates then delete it.

Hope that helps ?

So, no hacker types have figured out how to fake that yellow shield icon
and send me some bad stuff? Just wanted to be sure.
Earl

Not to my knowledge. If they did, Microsoft would
be right on them and prosecute them for a criminal
offense.
