Jane,Thanks for the suggestion. No I am not part of a Domain. I looked for
gpedit.msc and couldn't find it in my folders. I hit start and run and typed
in the command but it says it can't find gpedit.msc. Thanks again.
:
Linda, gpedit.msc is most definitely included in Ultimate. Are you by any
chance joined to a Domain?

Jane, not plain
64 bit enabled
Batteries not included. Braincell on vacation ;-)
I tried to do as you suggested but it couldn't open the gpedit.msc. I went
into sys32 and found group editor. Tried to run it and a dos window opened
and said that the update was sucessful. I don't seem to have gredit in my
version do I?
:
Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
Goto the following branch:
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components |
Windows Update
Double-click "Configure Automatic Updates"
Set it to "Not configured"
Note: If it is already set to "Not configured", enable the Policy and
revert the setting back to "Not configured". This resets any registry
based Policy if set already.

Running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Dell. I cannot set my Update to
automatic
because it says some settings are managed by the Administrator. I AM the
Administrator. I cannot get the updates to configure correctly because
the
Automatic Update is greyed out.
What can I do?
