I get automatic updates, and I have received the update
labeled 819696 - Directx vulnerability problem - at least
a dozen times. No exagerration. I have installed it every
time, and rebooted. Then, the next day, or a few days
later, I get the message: "new windows updates are ready
for you to install". Sure enough, I look at it... it's the
same one: good old 819696. Is anyone else having this
problem, and are there any suggestions about what to do
about it? It's no big deal, just annoying and stupid.

Is there some way to notify Microsoft about it? It seems
like a bug.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I finally started
documenting this with screen grabs and dates and times,
although when I checked the update history, there were an
astonishing number of installed updates. And, finally,
just now, I received the Update window and moments after I
tried to install it, I went to the Windows update page at
Microsoft, and sure enough when that site "scanned for
updates" old 819696 was shown as needing to be installed.
I've no idea if others are having this problem as well. It
would be nice if Microsoft might check this one out.

You may be victim of corrupted WU catalog info for your system.
You can try renaming the wywtem32\catroot2 folder to something
else, then revisiting WU.
