Hi there,

I recently carried out a windows repair on a xp sp2 system to sort out a
problem and after that carried out a windows update, no problems.

Then I rebooted and all hell broke loose, I lost my home network, I couldnt
start xp search or network setup wizard, when trying to access services I
received an error message "win32 access denied".

So now I have carried out a repair again and everything is fine but I havent
done a windows update.

Can anyone tell me what to look for and fix before I attempt another update.

I have an idea its something to do with partial update files still on the
computer and the new ones are corrupted when I do a fresh update.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I find Belarc Advisor a useful tool to see installed software and hardware
on my computer. It also lists all updates that have been installed.

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

And sorry if answer comes late.
