Hi,

I had a "switch to desktop" icon on the bottom toolbar of
Windows. I am not sure how it disappeared & how to get it
back on the toolbar. It is useful when I am in different
applications to click on this desktop icon that will bring
me back to the desktop.

Could you please advise? Thanks! Reine

Hi Reine,

To re-create the Show Desktop icon on the Quick Launch toolbar follow these steps:

- If you have not previously changed your Explorer view settings as follows, do so.

Control Panel > Folder Options > View [tab]:

Select: "Show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck: "Hide file extensions for known file types"
Uncheck: "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

- Open notepad.exe and copy/paste in the following 5 lines:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

- Save this file in the following folder with this file name: Show Desktop.scf

C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch
