Windows to MSN Messenger

I'm contemplating making the transition from Windows
Messenger to MSN Messenger.

What's the best way to do this ?

Will my contacts from Windows Messenger transfer to MSN
Messenger ?
 
Of course, when you use your .Net passport it does not matter in which
messenger you're on it displays the same thing
