Windows tile restore default?

Whenever I change my window to horizontal or vertical tiling, it seems
that everytime I ever open a new window, even days later (or more), it
opens as a smaller window. How do I set my default so that each time I
open an explorer window, it goes back to opening as a maximized window?

Thanks

I had this problem some time ago and found that if I dragged the window to
fill the screen first and then clicked on the maximise button, it stayed
maximised. It seems dragging it to full size first of all does the trick.

To change a default window size, use the lower right to drag to the desired
size and then use the File menu to close, not the red X.

That did it, thanks. I guess I must have stumbled into doing just that
in the past, not knowing that it was the protocol. Many thanks.

When I run into that, I right click the taskbar and choose "Cascade
Windows." This action returns windows to a default window size and
dimensions. From there I resize the "normal" window state to my liking
using the mouse and click on File> Close (or Exit). Minimize, Maximize and
Restore Down return to normal functions.

Also -- If you remember to Cascade Windows immediately after you're
finished with one of the Tile views, you won't get any surprises later on.
