I installed PPT 2007 a couple of weeks ago. Now, when I go to run a
show full-screen, the screen goes black, there is a pause, the Windows
taskbar comes up for a bit, then the show comes up. This did not
happen when I ran PPT 2003. I know one other person who has
encountered this as well. Any ideas?

I get this too Rebecca! I would be interested in knowing your set up
especially what printer is set as default and what graphics card you have.

I'm getting this with Office Ultimate / XP Pro on an OptiPlex 620 Dual Core
with 2 Mb Ram and a 256Mb ATI card. Default printer is a Dell 5100n Laser but
changing it doesn't seem to help. All drivers are the latest available.

Wild speculation ... is it possible that the show was originally set to run on
the second monitor but you now only have one monitor hooked up, or are just
using the laptop display with no external installed?

Not sure if thats for me or Rebecca, Steve. Anyway I'm not.
For a few seconds I see a black screen with a taskbar at the bottom and then
the show runs OK.

It seems worse when there are many animations on slide 1. It's quite
different to the effect you get when the show is on a non existant monitor
and it drives me mad(der).

I just can't get to the bottom of it. I thought it was the video card but
I've just got the November update and it's a pretty standard card. I've tried
several printers. I do have NAV but the office plug in is off.

PS could you email me (snail address and star sign!! - T shirt related)

This happens to me too.

I'm all up to date with drivers etc, have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with 7200rpm
hard drive, dual core processor (Intel T2400), ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with
256MB of memory, XP Home, Office Ultimate, Canon ip5300 printer. I also get
black holes on the screen when I escape from right click or f1 that go
eventually. And it takes ages to wake up after ending the show (black screen,
then the ribbon appears, then the taskbar . It happens with newly created
files & existing ones & even blank ones. No trouble at all with 2003.

So I'm building in 2007 and showing in 2003...

Any or all of the two of you who have the problem. ;-)

Hmm. I wonder if it's a CPU issue (and a matter of when PPT yields CPU to
Windows to refresh the windows/taskbar)?

OK.

Hi John

How's life in dear old blighty? I sometimes listen to the Today programme
and laugh heartily when they get to the weather :-)

It could well be the card otherwise surely there would be more complainers?
I have 8.421.0.0 driver from omega dated 28.09.07 (I have to get my drivers
from Dell so they're never up to date but Todd Dunn showed me the omega
site). How about you? I don't experience any other display problems - games
are fine for example.
