When I log on to Windows XP the Windows32 directory
opens. I am not sure why. How can I get this to stop?

Hello,

Thank you, but this did not solve the issue. I may not
have been clear. I don't have the issue when I boot up, I
have the issue when I sign on after logging off.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and scroll down
to Item No. 260. In the right column, click on "System32 Folder Opens
Upon Boot". Download this repair file and then run the repair.

.

Starting up and logoff/logon are very similar. In both cases, startup items
are loaded.

Check in System Information (msinfo32.exe) or in System Configuration
Utility (msconfig.exe) for the list of your startup items. Find the ones
that reside in the system32 folder. Follow the paths to the location that
is sending the call to load them (usually the registry).

Check any entry that includes a long file name or a path with spaces for a
full set of quote marks (opening and closing). Edit the registry keys to
add any missing quotes.
