After downloading and installing the latest XP security upgrade every time I start my computer it gives me an error message advising that the subject file could not be found. I "OK" the message and the computer starts, but not before another message advises me to install the subject file or delete reference to it in the registry. Norton WIN Doctor also detected that the file was missing and claims that it has fixed the problem but I continue to get the same two messages at every startup. So far my computer continues to run fine and I have experienced no problems or missing data or functions. What is this file, do I need it and what is the smart move here?

cabchk is a trojan horse virus, probably you have removed the trojan horse
from the system but there are still some traces of this virus left. You have
to open the Registry Editor and delete all the registry values referring to
this program.

The virus adds values to the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
