Every few days I get the following message:

Windows System Error
There is an IP Address Conflict with another system on the network.

My computer is a stand alone computer. I do hookup to the internet thru
cable but they said it isn't anything to do with them when I called.

When this happens my connections are all shut down & I have to unhook my
internet connection and doa total reboot to get back on.

Can anyone help me figure this out and stop it from happening? Thanks

Hi,

When you connect to internet through a cable it means that you are part of
the WAN which is controlled by the provider of your internet connection. So
each user should have a unique IP Address. If you are getting the message of
IP Conflict that means another user has been allocated the same IP Address as
you and so it prevents you from connecting to the internet. Contact your
internet provider and ask him to give u a new IP Address or resolve the
conflict by removing the ip address from the other person whose IP Address is
same as yours.
