I'm running my machine on Windows 2000. I am currently
having trouble wiht it, as after about an hour or so of
using the operating system, i can no longer open any
documents or programs, either on the desktop or on the
start menu. If i have programs and files open at the time
that this happens i am still able to use these, but can
not open anything else. To solve the problem I have to
restart the computer and open the files again.

Has anyone heard of this happening before, or does anyone
know how to solve the problem.

Many thanks in advance,

Richard Browne

Idea's:
How much RAM does the computer have? (64mb, 128mb, 256mb,
etc.) To check...Right-click "My Computer" and
select "Properties". On the "General" tab will be the
amount of RAM.
How large is the hard drive?
What % of the hard drive is utilized?

A possibility is that you are running out of resourses.
If you have only 64 or 128 mb and the hard drive is
small...that could be the problem. See when the computer
is running low on RAM it uses what's called a "Page
File". This page file uses the hard drive to allow more
applications to run. (slows the computer down...because
now you are accessing from the hard drive).

If this is the case for the RAM...then maybe you could
increase the amount of Page file (assuming your hard drive
has space).

Hope that helps...
