windows stop error during boot after update

I am working with a windows machine. amd xp 1600+, 512 mb
ram, asus a7nv266, and whenever I get any windows updates
the machine won't boot. I get a stop screen with a
problem with either fdc.sys 3c1807.sys or sometimes it
just says inaccessible boot disk. Does anyone have any
ideas since it would be really nice to update the machine.

Which update did you install? It sounds like the an update is conflicting
your computer configuration.
To further diagnose the problem you may want to create a support case with
the Windows 2000 Support Team

Select the "Contact Microsoft" link and a new web page will load. If you'd
like to submit a request for support using your phone, then click on the
"Phone Numbers, Support Options and Pricing" link for phone number
information. If you'd like to submit a support request over the Internet,
then click on the "Submit a Request for Online Help" link.

It doesn't matter what update. ANY of them cause a
problem. It is a very strange issue.
