when i boot up my computer and i see my windows desktop for the first time,
there are no desktop icons or a start menu/bar at the bottom ofmy page. the
only window that comes up is MY COMPUTER. i am not able o right click on my
desktop or make any changes to its appearance. all programs work, however, i
just have to access them through the MY COMPUTER windown. and if i "x" out
of that window i have no way of returning to it. my only option is to shut
it down. what happened???

I have the blue screen and was told by gateway to re-install the xp disk. I
am having trouble doing this as I am not sure how. Is there anyway you can
help me with this. I am using my daughters lap top right now.
Thanks,
Shannon
