When I turn on my computer a recorded message comes on
saying "computer performing self check.....computer now
booting from operating system". It's rather annoying.
Any idea how to turn this off?

This isn't a Windows setiing. It's a setting in your
BIOS.

When you first turn on your computer, hold down
the "delete" key on your keyboard to access the BIOS
software menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate. Scroll
over to the "BOOT" item on the main menu and scrool down
to the "Full Screen Logo" item on the Boot menu page.
Change the setting to "Disable" (enter, down arrow,
enter). You can also change the following items to boot
up faster;
Boot Up floppy Seek = Disable
Quick Power On Self Test = Enable

Select "F10" on yur keeyboard to save and exit.
