Windows SSL LDAP with windows 2003

We have a Windows 2003 active directory, and I am trying to install a
certificate so tha we can point outside systems at the ldap over ssl.

I followed the KB 321051 and it didn't work. Ideas???

"..it didn't work" is not very specific.

Well follwing the instructions to connect via ldp.exe did not return the
directory over port 636. Suggestions on how to connect or proof that ldap is
responding on 636? Is there some other setting that needs to be set?

Try telnetting to port 636 and see if you get a banner or anything.
Note:, I have not done this so I don't know if it works. It will do no
harm and might show something. It's a common debugging technique in
many situations like this. Go to a cmd prompt and issue this command:

telnet <the ip of the AD server> 636

Did you get no error message at all?
