Ok, my computer is running XP Home and it seems to be shutting down on
me at various times...I've been playing Everquest 2 before, or just
surfing the net. It's not overheating cause it shutdown after 2
minutes after being off all night. I dunno what the problem is...I put
in a Lightscribe drive a week or so ago, could that be it? Nothing
seems to be overheating as I can see so far.

Why would you assume it's not overheating after 2 minutes? It could very
well be. Have you looked inside to verify all fans are working and heat
sinks are dust free?

It could be a marginal or dying power supply. It could be bad RAM. It
could be a bad processor. There's no way for us to tell from here. Here
are some general hardware troubleshooting steps:

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).

First thing is to go to add/remove programs and uninstall the game , then try
again, if sucess go to game website and search for updates and patches ,if
not go to control panel-performance and maintenance- power options and see if
shutdown time is listed , then reset but 2 mins is not long ,so good luck

First, note that this is almost certainly a hardware issue, not a Windows
one. It could be many things, but the following are most likely:

1. Overheating (yes, even after only two minutes).

2. Bad power supply.

3. Flaky power at the wall outlet.

3. Bad RAM.

A couple of years ago there was a virus going around that caused random
shutdowns. I had a client with it, but I don't remember the name.
