Make up an icon and call it shutdown. In the properties put:
TARGET %windir%\system32\shutdown.exe -s -t 00
START IN %windir%

This will shut down win XP by just clicking the icon.

Need a little help on finding "TARGET" and" START IN" to enter the text into

What I did was to copy an existing icon on the desktop. You now have
two of the same. Right click on the copy icon and change its name to
shutdown. Now Right click on the same icon and change the target and
start in. You will then have an icon that will shut down XP.
