Hi
Windows XP failed to boot, tried to reinstall windows. After getting to 100
%. windows said it could not format the drive. Tried another hard drive,
same exact thing. Tried a third drive, same thing again.
I changed the ide cable, also.

Anyone have any more ideas what could be wrong??
Thanks

Dan

How large is the partition, and what file system (FAT32 or NTFS) are
you trying to create?

Im having the same problem, my computer will not format this drive
I tried switching between the legacy and the sata power cables and that
doesnt make a difference and theres only one serial data cable.
Its supposed to be a 200 gig drive but it shows up as 372 gigs and
every time i try formatting it gets all the way to 100% and says it
didnt complete formatting sucesfully.
So if you could help this guy out you would be really helping me as
well

it says it cannot sucesfully complete the formatting as soon as i do it

I am trying NTFS, with a partition size of about 80 gig. Quick format does
the same thing.
I have another computer to try the hd on, but not until the weekend. The
second ide controller works fine for the DVD and DVD Writer.
