windows service pack 4

After updating to service pack4 my cd/dvd drive no longer works. I have tried
updating drive, removing then reloading. I have a Toshiba satellite pro 4600.
Is there a way to remove service pack 4?
 
Check Event Viewer for errors. Check Device Manager for error codes and or
non-starting devices.
