I tried Microsoft website to find answers to my questions but to no
avail.
1 - After installation, is Windows Server 2003 an operating system on
its own?
2 - If so, is it much like XP Professional where one can also use it as
a regular home PC?
3 - Does it need XP Professional installed on the PC as a prerequisit
to its own installation?
I ask these questions because I just bought Visual Studio 2005
Professional and I see that XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 were
included.

Win2003 has the set of the server components and new functionality which
are not included in XP
Besides this Win2k3 has new version of some components.
For example IIS6.0 (5.1 in XP), COM+ 1.5 (1.0 in XP), MQMQ (XP is limited
for the sever support) and etc

Hi,

This is a group for the C# programming languages, nothing related to
install/maintain windows OS installations.

I suggest you to post in one of the win 2003 NGs
