I am trying to migrate a Novell 4.11 NDS directory structure with the whole
file system to a Windows 2003 Server.
In my test environment, i set up the W2k3 DC and installed the Novell Client
4.9 and "Services for Netware 5.0 (German Edition).
When i tried to use in this setup the MSDSS tool, i've got no luck, so i
looked for an update and found the
"Services for Netware 5.02 SP2", but only in an english update version.
However, i installed the english update package over my
german SFN version, and the MSDSS tool worked fine.
The migration of the user and group objects from the NDS tree worked well,
and the file migration log file seemed to be correct
for the later file migration. And at this point the problems started.
Whenever i tried to copy files from the Netware volume to the NTFS volume
with the "File Migration Utility", the inherited
rights, that are set up in the Netware volume, are not transfered to the
NTFS volume. This means that the "FMU" copies
only user or group Access Control Entries to the NTFS volume, if they are
explicitely granted on the Netware site. All
files that are located in subfolders on the Netware volume with the
inherited rights option, loose their permissions on the
NTFS volume and "FMU" replace instead the administrator accounts on the acl.
In all documentation i read something about the capabilty of the "FMU" to
calculate the inherited rights from netware to the ntfs volume, but in my
situation i does not work. Can anyone help me?
Is it possible that the SFN5.0 version does have general problems with W2k3?
Thanks
