Server running OS: Server 2000, Exchange 2000, 3GB RAM
The Server will intermittently loose it's ability to connect to the internet
and communicate to the outside word. The link will stay up and it will appear
all is running fine but when you attempt to ping or connect to a website it
fails. It will have no issue communicating to LAN users but it will stop
speaking to the outside world and stop receiving emails.
I did the following items (and then some) and none of them corrected the
problem:
changed the data cable and made sure all plugged in tight
changed the port on the switch
verified all ip settings and DNS and WINS, etc
flushed dns
restarted the box 3 times
Checked event log
checked all services
Checked the Internet Options and made sure was proper
Then all of a sudden it decided to start working and I was able to connect
to outside websites and it was then able to connect and receive outside
emails...I did nothing to make that start working...very buggy...then it
stops working....then works...then stops working....no rhyme or reason or
pattern to explain it.
I look forward to your comments and possible solutions.
Thanks,
Scott
