I am running a windows 2000 server (SP4) and am having issues when going to
install any updates. The install seems to start ok but then hangs and will
not go any further than inspecting system configuration. I have checked all
the usuals, permissions etc and they all seem to be ok. All hardware checks
have come back ok, as have all services which seem to be all running ok. no
issues with memory or any such thing.

Any help gratefully accepted

Hi,
is your system hangs during normal operation !? is WSUS turned on !? is
their any AV / SW that locks system directories like McAffee Edition has
option for locking system directories...

Best Regards

Hemantgiri,

during normal operation the system seems to be working fine. All processes
are running as i would expect, there are no issues with rebooting and the
system comes straight up with no issues. WSUS is turned on to download any
updates, but that said, due to the issue with the installer, any downloads
which are received will not get processed. I have tried re-installing SP4 but
to no avail due to the same reason. I am running Macaffee AV and have already
tried disabling the process at startup to see if this was locking the system,
but again, no change in the outcome.

thanks again
