Windows Security Centre - Disabled

With NO PROBLEMS for months, running XP Home, Norton Antivirus, an error
message keeps telling me "it needs to close down".
SPYBOT reveals that Microsoft Windows Security Centre is DISABLED.
Repairing sometimes restores, but then next time I boot up, it is Disabled
again !

Can anyone help ?

The Norton software can disable the Security Centre. You may want to switch
from Norton software to another brand.

I've used Norton for past 8 uears !
