My windows security center will not start, it says "the security center is
currently unavailable because the Security Center service has not started or
was stopped. Please close this window, restart the computer (or start the
Security Center service) and then open the Security Center again.

I have tried this and it doesnt work. How can I switch it back on again?

Thanks in advance

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Security Center |
Set to Automatic | Click Apply | Click the Start button |

Mr. Vogel,

I need some advice with my Security Center. I tried your advice below, and
I got a RUNDLL script error. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had the same problem and used the fixed and it solved my problem. Thanks
so much, this is the first time I was able to solve my problem by using this
site. Thanks again

Security Center service is available only in Windows XP systems with Service
Pack 2 installed. If you have SP2 installed, then see the following URL for

Krit,

Did you get any error messages? Did you right-click the REG file and then
choose "Merge". You may try the procedure again from Safe mode.

I tried the below and got an error message. Should I try to reinstall Pack 2?
Is there anyway to get tech help from Windows without paying $200.?

Get rid of your Norton software. It stuffs up Security Centre. Make sure
you fully uninstall it - use their removal tool - and then get something
better.
