Windows Search - Help!!!!

When I search for a file extension that returns lots of files, the search
stops responding. I have tried "sfc /scannow" but that hasn't solved the
problem. I'm tearing my hair out! Anybody got any other ideas?
 
Narrow down the search locations from the entire drive to a folder or group
of folders.
