Whilst playing on several of the games ive got windows reverts back to the
desktop and minimizes the game i'm playing. This has been happening for ages
now and can sometimes make the game freeze when i click back on it.

Does anyone know how to resolve this??
This has happened with games like Football Manager 2006,The Movies,Black and
White 2 etc.
My computer is highly specced so it can't be a problem with it not being
good enough to run them.

Some other process or application is taking focus from your game. You
may be able to determine what is running with the task manager or
msconfig. It MAY help to use a utility like End it All
http://www.docsdownloads.com/Tier1/enditall.htm to shut down unnecessary
processes when you run the game.

Good advice. And a good reason why Vista by default needs to stop
applications stealing focus as developers don't seem able to.

Just guessing here, you don't have a screensaver enabled, do you? Might be an
idea to disable it

I found that Microsoft AntiSpyware loves to do this during scheduled scans.
I've moved the scan to 4 AM, but I've run into it still while playing my new
favorite MMORPG until 6 AM in the morning. I don't plan on playing that
late so I never disable it before going in to play. It gets a little
embarressing to tell (voice chat is great!) the members of my party to hold
on while I crash (not really a crash, but thats what it feels like) to the
desktop...stop tbe MS AntiSpyware scan...bring the game back up.

Also in my case the game seems to freeze, but its actually all the memory
hogging of the MMORPG. After a few seconds I can bring the game screen up
again.

So to make a long story short...disable any scheduled scans before you go in
to play your game of choice.

I just installed a new hard drive and my comp is doing the same thing. I've
seen the tab in the taskbar but with no name. I've tried to catch it in task
manager to no avail. You wouldn't happen to have Norton antivirus or system
works installed would you?
