I am having problems with my comp. because it restarts by
itself. During this process it goes back in forth b/w "we
apoligize page"(where it tells me to choose b/w safe mode,
safe mode w/ networking, restart windows normally, etc),
the Windows XP start up logo page(where it loads), AND the
Compaq page(the comp. manufacturer and where I can access
setup, but I don´t know what to do there).

What can I do about this?????

Choose "Last Known good configuration" at the menu.
Otherwise:
Choose Safe Mode at that menu then system Restore to a time before
problem occurred.
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

Otherwise perform a Repair Installation:

Compaq recovery partitions and/or recovery disks won't do a repair
install.

Hi.

"Jupiter Jones" has given you a couple of good suggestions. If you
can get your computer started at all, even in Safe Mode, then you
should open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the
Settings button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the
Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for "automatically
restart" to clear it. Then click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

That should put an end to the continual restarting. However it will
also probably result in "Blue Screen Of Death" STOP error messages, in
which case the contents of the STOP message will be a direct clue as
to the underlying cause of your problems.

Good luck
