Windows Reporting Wrong Memory Amount in Control Panel

I searched first and counldn't find the right answer. I hope somone
can help.


I recently installed an extra 512 MB of RAM in my computer. The POST
test reports the correct total (1 GB) and when I look in Windows under
Accessories/System Information it too reports 1 GB. However, both the
Task Manager and Control Panel/System only report 512 MB. I looked at
the Boot.INI file and it seems correct. I have talked with several
other techie types and they are at a loss.

Try a BIOS update. That's what I do when i get uber-strange issues on a
clean install. About half the time it works.

Another thing to try is different RAM.
