Hi

Now here is a strange one, my system XP Pro, was playing up, and has been for a while so thought i'd do a 'Repair' with the XP CD, so, put the CD in, booted from cd and started windows set up, when it got to the part where you chose a drive to either put a 'clean install' or 'repair' on there was no 'C' drive there!!

There was listed 'F' which is a secondry drive with no OS on it, and
Western D FAT32 External Drive which is a back up drive with a back-up on it via Norton Ghost.

Just tried to continue with both of the above and was halted saying, ' Cannot install on this partition/drive bla bla'

So came out via F3 quit, re booted and looked in partition magic, 'C' drive was there with the OS on it.

Also shows as 'C' on 'My Computer'

Why does windows not recongise that:-

A) I have a 'C' drive, and
B) that there is already an OS there to repair

Ended up using Norton GoBack in the end and all is well for now.

Any ideas??
