My PC is driving me crazy... it just reboots on its own
all the time... always at an unexpected moment... help..???
Could AOL 8.0 be causing this....?
.
Yes! And so could a dozen other applications that may have
been corrupted, improperly installed, effected by virus,
or a million other causes. Any application, but primarily
applications that are not built by Microsoft, can have
adverse effects on a Windows operating systems. For
example, I have seen multiple problems after installing
Norton Anti-virus software on any Microsoft operating
system. This is not to say it will always happen, but
more times than not, it does. Anytime you install 3rd
party software on a microsoft system you run the risk of
incompatabilities, no matter how "good" they claim their
product is.
My advise is to restart the computer and go into safe
mode. Uninstall applications (1 by 1) and restart in
normal mode. See if you still experience the same
problems. Note that this will be a painstaking task as
you will have to reboot after each uninstall.. operate
your system with the software uninstalled in order to
determine which application is the culprit. Your only
other real option is to format and reinstall your OS, and
then install applications (1 by 1) and see if one of the
newly installed apps cause any problems.
