I can't open more than one window at a time. Example; i have my email open
and I'll click a hyperlink...the hyperlink opens and the email goes away.

Check your settings in explorer (not internet explorer, but explorer):

Right click the start button, select explore
Tools>Options>General Tab>Browse folders

Not sure if this is the root of your problem or not, but it is a start.
Please let us know if it works for you.

What do you mean by "the email goes away"? Does Outlook Express (or whatever
e-mail client you use) actually shutdown? Or is it that your IE window
simply set so it covers your email window? Click a hyperlink and then look
at the taskbar to see if Outlook Express is still running albeit in the
background.

Sorry I didn't make that clear. The e-mail clent is used up by the
hyperlink. Once i click on the hyperlink the e-mail window is replaced by
the hyperlink window. Nothing is running in the background. Normal ops I
can click on IE 5 times and 5 windows will open...now each time I click the
former window is used by the current

Try this. Launch IE and go to Tools->Internet options->Advanced Tab. Uncheck
"Reuse windows for launching shortcuts". Apply->Ok and close IE
