windows picture viewer will not open jpeg files

Hi
When I double click on say a jpeg photo. Nothing happens.
I can open the file with Nikon Editor and fine pix viewer.I have tried this
as suggested in other threads.
"Open a folder with photos.
Right click on one photo.
Click on Open with on the opening menu.
Click on Choose Program on the opening list.
Select Windows Picture and Fax Viewer on the opening list and click the box
"Always...."."

Has anybody got any ideas to fix this problem? Thanks

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"
