Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

thanx John,

After typing in the string, it opens with Notebook, not Picture and Fax
Viewer. As well, the letters are garbled rather than legible. Any helpful
hints?

sorry for being so confusing - as you suggested, I went to Start/Run and typed

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

I did receive the dialog box you referred to letting me know I was
successful. I returned to OE and tried to open my file with the .cpf
extension. Microsoft Notebook opened it and I was unable to read it as it
was in symbols, not letters.

I would like to open it with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. How can I do
that?
Thank you again

You indicated that Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer was possibly not functioning. The command
I offered is supposed to restore the function.

Now...apparently Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
is working and your problem may be due to an
incompatible file type.

Sorry, but I have no experience with .cpf files.
That is definitely not a standard image format.

The following info is simply guesswork.......

The following site indicates that a program called
Canvastic may have created the .cpf files...
http://filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=.cpf

Maybe these files were created with the program
at the following link but I am unsure how to view
them.

Canvastic
http://www.canvastic.com/

There is a suggestion at the site that makes me
think the files could be viewed with QuickTime
but I am uncertain.

Or maybe the evaluation version of the program
would function as a viewer.

Good luck figuring it out.
