I have a client that would like to make Windows Pictures and Fax Viewer a
shortcut on the desktop. Is this possible? Is a .dll file used for the
shortcut, haven't been able to locate the program or location.

Thanks in advance.

right click an empty spot on your desktop>new shortcut> type in the
following in the text field,
rundll32.exe %SystemRoot%\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen

There is a space between rundll32.exe and the rest of the string.
Then, give the shortcut a name and click finish.

I should add this, to make it work, click on the icon and you'll get the
'no preview available...once it's open like that just drag the file you want
to view to the blank screen.

Thank you !

It worked great! However, he didn't like having to drag the .jpg file to
the shortcut. I explained it's just a viewer, but he hoped he could do a
file > open; as in most applications.

Oh well, but thanks again!!

A completely pointless exercise as there is no way to open a file from the
program..

Lori,

You'd like this light weight graphic viewer as well.

IrfanView - one of the most popular viewers worldwide:

It's certainly one of the most popular viewers.
