Re: Patch Install Sequence for Win2k post SP4 patches and Win XP Post SP2
patches

I have downloaded the patches and the latest service pack.

Please validate the following sequence:

Step-1.Apply latest service pack and Reboot.
Step-2. Apply latest IE patch update [Applying first is optional but
recommended] and all other patch updates one at a time and surpress/delay the
reboot.
Step-3. Restart/ Reboot the system.

Quick chaining is built into all windows patches(post SP3 on Win2K, post
SP1/SP2 on XP)with the exception of Internet Explorer so for all patches the
reboot can be delayed.

Are there any patches that cannot be quick chaining other than IE?

Are there any patches that would break the above patch install sequence?

Any response is appreciated.

Hi Arun,
Yes there are some Office patches which will not do QChain as the don't
have an update.exe file which is required for QChain.

Additionally any other patch which does not have Update.exe cannot be
chained which will cause you problems.
