ESET Achieves 40th Virus Bulletin 100% Award
NOD32 Antivirus Software Holds Record for Number of "In the Wild" Wins
SAN DIEGO - October 5, 2006 - ESET, the leader in proactive threat protection, today announced
that ESET NOD32 Antivirus received its fortieth VB 100% award in the October 2006 Virus
Bulletin Comparative Review. ESET earned its latest VB 100% score in comparative testing of 27
antivirus products running on Windows 2000 Server, further extending its eight-year track
record as the vendor with the most awards. Virus Bulletin awards VB 100% scores to products
that detect 100 percent of viruses from the WildList without false positives.
"ESET has achieved 40 Virus Bulletin VB 100% awards, more than any other vendor," said Helen
Martin, Editor of Virus Bulletin. "In Virus Bulletin's comparative tests, ESET's product has
not missed an 'In-the-Wild' virus sample since May 1998. NOD32 registered the fastest scanning
speeds of all the products included in Virus Bulletin's October 2006 comparative review." "The
product powered through the scans in stunning time, and effortlessly detected everything
offered to it without false positives, earning yet another VB 100% award for its work,"
according to John Hawes, of Virus Bulletin.
"We're pleased to be celebrating our fortieth VB 100% win, a milestone that underscores NOD32's
unparalleled history of flawless detection across a range of platforms," said Miroslav Trnka,
Technical Director at ESET. "ESET delivers the most advanced proactive technology for combating
malware in a fast and easy-to-use product, and it's an honor to be distinguished as the leader
in Virus Bulletin's In-the-Wild tests."
ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 2.5 utilizes ThreatSense® technology, a sophisticated detection
system based on advanced heuristics, to proactively identify previously-unknown viruses,
Trojans, spyware and phishing attacks in real-time. ThreatSense is built into NOD32's unified
scanning engine to provide comprehensive protection so users do not need to rely on additional
point solutions for spyware and adware protection.
VB 100% Overview

anti-virus product must have demonstrated in tests that:
-It detects all In the Wild viruses during both on-demand and on-access scanning.
-It generates no false positives when scanning a set of clean files.
-The product must fulfill these criteria in its default state.
