Each time i start any program after installing Vista Beta 2 i get the Windows
Installer and then the Office Installer popups popping up... anybody else had
this problem?

No, But you should try a repair on Office. I assume you did an upgrage and
this office 2003?

That sounds like something that happens on XP that requires a Windows
Installer Clean Up tool (or something similarly named). But try Josh's
suggestion first.

This kind of thing is not uncommon and its other variant is one Office
program will invoke the installer for another, of the installer for Omni
Page Pro if you've ever had that on the box.

I think you're best bet is to definitely use the WICU Colin invoked, which
is a little cleanup utility that is very helpful in any large MSFT program
uninstall and subsequent install--it does no app uninstalling but it will
get corrupt files, .dlls, reg strings out of the way of the MSI the Windows
Installer. The Office setup teams use it all the time with problems like
this one. You certainly could try a "detect and repair" repair of Office
located at the Help menu if its 2003 or earlier or Add/Remove and that may
do the trick. If that doesn't then...

Uninstall your current Office and reinstall and you might consider Office
2007 trial if you want to get a look at some of the new Office features
(Beta on Beta so what I've been using it for good while). MSFT has plenty
of instruction on Office 2007 on its site including videos.

The MSKB I included was not a good choice. You don't need to touch the
command line. See this as reference for using Detect and Repair to see if
you can fix things quickly before doing an uninstall reinstall:

It also helps with more specific problems to always give the Office version
you're using and the service pack level. We don't need it here.

Similar problem-- but specific to shortcuts that open new windows or tabs in
Internet and Windows Explorers. I ran the WICU on Office 12 b2tr and
reinstalled it, and I still have this problem, so the Office installation
isn't the culprit.

Short of cleaning up and reinstalling every program that installed via msi,
is there any way to determine which program is at fault, and just fix that
one?
