I have this prehistoric OS called WinNT and have upgraded
to MS IE 6.0 sp1 and now audio speakers are static. Dont
fault me I've been trying to upgrade this OS for Years. I
just need to resolve this issue.

I am having a similar problem as the attached email
states. My speakers and headphones play static when I
start up Internet Explorer 6. This started when I
upgraded from an earlier version of Internet Explorer
(version 5). My sound scheme (NT default) works fine with
all the other applications. I have a Micron Pc and I
believe I have a SoundMax card (but I am not sure because
I not aware how to check for this in NT). There are at
least another 20 people in my office who are experiencing
the same problem (with same OS and Hardware). Can this
be fixed? Thank you.

I'm also having a simular problem, but the static comes and goes. I have a
Micron PC with a Aureal Vortec sound card. I use WIN ME and IE6.0 No Service
Pack 1 yet.

Make sure you set the microphone to mute in the audio control panel.
That solved it for me.
