I have an external USB Linux Hard drive, In Windows XP, How do I change the
BIOS to recognize the drive and be able to boot from the external drive? I
am not sure I am stating the question clearly but I hope someone can help.

not all sys have a boot from usb option
PS you dont amend bios in win, you need to access the bios setup prior to
win booting/
Different sys have differing ways of entering the bios - you can try DEL on
bootup

You've stated your question clearly. We have never been able to boot to a
USB external hard drive regardless of the motherboard's so-called capability
in this regard. And while we've heard time & time again how some users were
able to do so, we have *never* come across a single confirmed report of
such. To the best of our knowledge one cannot boot to a USB external device
in an XP environment.

However, having said this, you might want to take a look at what's becoming
a famous (some say "infamous"!) article by Fred Langa - see
http://www.informationweek.com/windows/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=177102101
where Mr. Langa sets forth instructions on how to boot from a USB device.
