Somebody please help me as i have discoverd that my windows is not genuine i
have purchase a genuine copy but dont know how to uninstall the not genuine
copy from my computer. And I need to know how do i reinstall the genuine copy

First question to you is how did you get the NOT genuine copy of Windows on
your computer in the first place? Anyways, to install your legit copy of
Windows, simply put the CD in your CD-ROM drive and go into your CMOS
(usually by hitting either the Del or F1 button when you first turn on your
computer) and set the boot sequence to boot from the CD drive first. If you
are unfamiliar with installing XP, look for articles online to help you out.
Here is one:

Before installing it though, be sure to back up ALL your important data you
have right now because once you do a clean install of XP, everything will be
gone and you will have a fresh copy of XP.

you could also do 1 of two OTHER things, like running a program to
change the CD key to the genuine one (sysprep is a good program, from
microsoft). Failing that, instead of performing a complete re-install
and losing work, you could run a repair and enter the CD key of the
legitimate version.

Hi
Thank you for you help. First of all I sent my computer for repair to be
repaired by a computer and he said that my programs got of corrupted. So he
installed for me
a new XP. Its only recently when i scan the computer to see if it was
genuine or
not thats how i found out, since then i have been trying to get rid of it.

Perhaps one day, the repair shops will realize that they just
cannot install Windows XP indiscriminately. OTOH, they are also
stuck with the problem of re-installation unless the customer
provides the original Windows XP installation cdrom and product
key. If the situation cannot be rectified by earlier suggestions,
then it is the repair shop's responsibility to correct it.

Simply unbelievable. I would never ever let a technician install an
operating system for me. It does not make any sense at all for them to
install an XP on your computer because heck, anyone could give them their
computers and be able to have a brand new copy of XP. You should really go
back and slap their faces for doing so. Did they even warn you that they
were going to reformat your hard drive? Sorry but I get really heated up
when people do those things, especially when they are suppose to be the
smart guys fixing the computers.
Anyways, back to your problem. My only suggestion for you is to reinstall
your legitimate copy of XP over the illegal one. Refer back to my first
post.

I have been using the same version of windows XP for about 2 years now and
all of a sudden about 2 months ago I started getting the message that my XP
version and product key was not genuine. Is there any way that I can resolve
this without having to spend any money because the product that I bought IS a
genuine version of XP professional and I don't understand why this is a
problem all of a sudden.

Please follow this diagnostic troubleshooting procedure:

1. Download and run the MGA Diagnostic Tool:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

2. After running the MGA Diagnostic Tool, click
on the "Windows" tab and then click on "Copy".

3. Next, visit the following website and create a post in the
"WGA Validation Problems" forum and paste the
results of the WGA Diagnostic Data in a detailed post.
http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/default.aspx?SiteID=25

4. A WGA troubleshooting specialist will analyze the data and
recommend an appropriate solution.
