Downloaded current automatic msft security updates
tonight. I am running professional XP. I have Black Ice
protection and this advised that there was a possible
trojan in file shlwapi.dll and would not let me run any
applications or access the internet. I have stopped black
ice protection and that has allowed me access again. i
want to restart Black Ice protection again , but how do i
do this as everything will stop again

Any advice appreciated

Thanks
..

Have you tried contacting Black Ice support? By now, they should be aware
of this issue (if not, you can make them aware), if it is truly a false
positive scanning the real shlwapi.dll, and may have some suggestions for
you.

It is marginally possible that something else intervened and really /did/
install a Trojan version of shlwapi.dll - far more likely is that this is
one of those occasional "false positives", where the code that is being
scanned for as a "signature" happens to match a piece of innocent code - or
even data - inside a bona-fide DLL.

Alun.
