My daughter reciently bought a new computer with windows XP on it. The
problem is I can't get it to communicate with the server computer for the
internet connection. The computer with XP sees all the computers on the
network and will transfer files with no problem but will not connect with
the server to go on the internet. I am using Sygate sa a client on the XP
computer and the Server is using 98SE with sygate. Any ideas on how to get
this working?
Another oversavation, All the clients on the network list a DNS and gateway
when they are looked up in sygate. However the XP computer does not even
though iit has been manually assigned

So, Win98SE is the server? If yes, are you using Windows
Internet Connection Sharing? If yes, I have the exact
same setup, and both of my XP clients connect & surf/email
just fine via my broadband connection, so I'm sure "we"
can figure out what the problem is...

This is correct. The server computer is running windows 98 se, As far as I
can tell there is something between explorer and sygate that isn't working.
If I connect directly with the modem on the computer with XP, it will surf
the net no problem
