Windows Networking Slow

Hello,

We have recently setup up a VPN, which allows for
connections to our clients LAN. While we have excellent
ping response times (time=61ms), Windows networking runs
incredibly slowly.

To be more specific, browsing and accessing files seems to
be slow, although a file transfer, once initiated, seems
to be acceptably quick.

Please advise asap?

Many thanks,
Tom Jermy

Browsing across a VPN is usually unreliable. The browser service depends
on broadcasts, and these are blocked by a router or a WAN connection.

What about name resolution? Do you get good response it you ping by
name?

Yes, I have got the following entry on the client machine
that I am testing on in %windir%\system32
\drivers\etc\hosts:

I have also diabled NetBois for the PPP Miniport:
PPP adapter tf999:
